The Modular ‘Open Grid’ Baseboard System for… Model Railways, War Gaming, Slot Car Racing, and Architectural Modelling.

Brilliant-Baseboards are ‘Open Grid’ baseboards, allowing the track beds or roads, to be laid out directly on top of the grid and above or below it, this allows the scenery to be constructed with a more natural look. Rarely is the natural landscape, ‘flat as a billiard table’ in real life, but it is, in a lot of model railways. Buildings are set in the baseboards, as they should be, with foundations.  All our baseboards come as ‘Flat Pack’ kits, with all you need to assemble them in the box, including the glue, and comprehensive instructions. All other BB products like… legs, feet, frames, and trays, are complete and RTR.

Brilliant Baseboards manufacture three different ranges of ‘Open Grid’ baseboards to suit all pockets and tastes

Starting with…

1. BB 3/5 MDF. ‘Original’ 3/5 (Three long beams x Five cross beams) machined from 6mm MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard). (This model is quite suitable for the traditional flat top design, using ply, chipboard, MDF, or ‘Sundeala’ as the upper surface.)
2. BB 4/7 MDF. ‘Superior’ 4/7 (Four long beams x Seven cross beams) machined from 6mm MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard). (This model is designed for carving and adapting the upper edges of the beams to incorporate valleys, rivers, hills and roads, to more closely resemble the natural landscape, use the infil of your choice, card latice and paper maché, polystyrene, or what ever you decide is most suitable).
3. The BB 4/7 BPW. ‘Ultimate’ Essential! When Only the Best will Do!
4.  BB 4/7 BPW. ‘Ultimate’ 4/7 (Four long beams x Seven cross beams) machined from 6.5mm Premium Grade, Top Quality, Birch Plywood. Essential! When Only the Best will Do! (This model is designed for carving and adapting the upper edges of the beams to incorporate valleys, rivers, hills and roads, to more closely resemble the natural landscape, use the infil of your choice, card latice and paper maché, polystyrene, or what ever you decide is most suitable).

Then we have the half size baseboards, only available in the ‘Superior’ and ‘Ultimate’ ranges…

5. BB 4/4 H/S MDF. ‘Superior’ Half Size. 4/4 (Four long beams x Four cross beams) machined from 6mm MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard). (These half size baseboards can be very useful in tight spaces).
6. BB 4/4 H/S BPW. ‘Ultimate’ Half Size. 4/4 (Four long beams x Four cross beams) machined from 6.5mm Premium Grade, Top Quality, Birch Plywood.). (These half size baseboards can be very useful in tight spaces).

All full size baseboards measure 1200mm x 600mm x 130mm when assembled. The half size measure 600mm x 600mm x 130mm. All baseboards are sold as flat pack kits, to be assembled by the purchaser, All parts are ready to glue together, pack includes in addition to the main beams, 4# outer end blocks, 2# centre end blocks, 4fl oz glue, glue brush, M8 baseboard connecting bolts/knobs and M8 pronged tee nuts, together with comprehensive instructions.

Two or more baseboards can be bolted together… End to End, Side to Side, or Side to End, to create an ‘L’ shape or ultimatly a square circle.
